I think that most of AI managers are very bad as well... they dont really react to our changes, they hire strange (high priced) players, I noticed that some managers are really good though (mostly those that were players before) but still their teams will not make that much play as ours, only if the other team is waaaay better. I noticed that a lot of times, even playing with a team full of players that are bellow the normal lv of the league, I managed to finish up table with not so much trouble. Maybe FM became easier with time?

Surely the next test is take Forest, remove all players and fill it with ultra skilled players but have no athletic ability. The polar opposite of this last test. So mainly older players that are broken down but still have great skills

Im convinced some stats dont even mean anything too. I remember starting a save with spurs im fm23 and harry kane with 19 finishing was missing 7 sitters a game, meanwhile players with 11 long shots and 12 finishing were cosplaying prime cr7

You should make the exact same team but in the championship. They should get promoted in most if not all simulations if they are a mid-table premier league team. If they don't, there could be more to it than pace/ acc being broken.

This isn't that surprising to me and I am fairly sure the Ai "knows" this. I had three players all similar stats but they had 16 pace, 13 pace and 12 pace. Price for them went from $600,000 to $25 Million even though when I looked the player with 16 pace had a lower potential. All other stats were 11-14.

i once made a player for fun that had everything 1 only physicals 20 and bayern bought him in first season and he played in first team and had around 7.5 average rating :D but this was in fm 23

The thing is it IS realistic for athleticism (speed in particular) to be very impactful in the game and on a player's ability to perform. We just have to look at some of the players we consider to at the top of the game throughout the years. Mbappe, Haaland, Cristiano, R9, Henry, Eusébio, Péle... even Messi, Maradona or Ronaldinho, who might not be the first guys coming to mind as speedy players, could outpace most other players. Of course these might not be the best examples given their many extraordinary qualities but I'd argue their speed is actually much more relevant to their success on the pitch than one might want to admit. So the major issue here (from my perspective) is how the current or potential ability don't properly reflect the impact of athleticism and not so much how athleticism affects outcomes in the game.

It's been known that this is the case for a few FMs nows, nothing new. You can however look at it like FM being a sandbox. You can exploit it, but in the long run, will it be fun? Also, it's known that SI has a tendency of scuffing shit and not address said shit. It happened with the Dynamic Youth Rating, it happened with this years misleading publicity of the game, it happens everytime they announce some new feature but it's only a new screen for old shit in game. It is what it is. It's the best, it's really good, but the lack of competition made SI and FM stale

current ability never reflected how good a player is in a certain position or role - that's what the % rating does (you can find it in FMRTE and Genie Scout apps; you should check their ratings in those apps against the rest of the league and it will be a different story). pace is weighted just too damn valuable by the match engine.

Add a tactic from FMArena to the mix, you can easily get a win in a Prem at least once and probably top 5 finish consistently, I am a football enthuasist who reads, watch and analyze football daily and hate to admit FM is in a sad state. Yeah, of course there are many things that they do right even in tactical department but not necessarily enough I am sorry.

Makes sense games do that. The prem does it by signing a ton of black players every season. The NFL did it, the NBA did it. Hockey can't benifit the same way from physical speed the same way hecause of skates, so raw human power is not the pinnicale. God made each race of people to have different strengths, and he gave blacks an epic level of physical "stats" if you will compared to most others. Thats why most QB's are less phyically gifted but very intelligent, xabi alonso, xavi, busqets etc.. none of them are as physically gifted but God gave them other strengths. But when it comes to sports, most of the time physical power is so important. So it makes sense. So if real life does it, why not games?

I'm expecting FM25 to be balanced even worse. They're implementing a new engine so next couple of FMs will have some serious balance issues.

Hopefully SI can see this and fix it. However, having a team that is exceptionally good in one attribute only (pace or technique or passing, etc.) will probably be able to finish mid table regardless - but no higher than that. That's the beauty of FM. You need to combine multiple factors to make a winning team.

I am not surprised. I had a youth academy challenge save on fm 21. Really struggled for the first decade. Then by accident I discovered fm arena and in the next five years I got three promotions haha. Just by focusing on pacy players and exclusively training quickness. For gk I only trained reflexes. Had a really good dribbler who I placed on the edge of area during defensive set pieces. He would collect the loose ball and just dribble the whole pitch. He woukd score six or seven goals like that a season

The thing is with FIFA/EA FC is that a few years ago FIFA put their thumbs on the scale, and now a team with significantly higher Overall ratings will have weird things happen in their favor to avoid this. What will happen is that bounces will funnel to higher OVR team, the lower OVR team will rattle the crossbar 7 times in a game, the high OVR team's goalkeeper will morph into prime Peter Schmeichel, etc. The most frustrating is the dreaded "tackle through ball," where you put in a tackle on an opposing attacker, and the ball is tackled away directly into the absolutely ideal path of another opposing attacker for a goal. So yeah, if you load up a team with 90 pace players with an overall 4 points below a normal team, and then CPU v CPU them, the normal team smokes them, but often does so in ridiculous fashion. As for FM, this has really only been a problem with their engine and design since 2001, so I'm sure they'll address it at some point.

I just ran this experiment after watching your video. I took Aveley in the national south who were predicted to come 22nd I terminated everyone's contracts and brought in players with high pace and acceleration that were interested in signing for us. I simmed the whole season and just got promoted via the playoff final.

You should have realized this issue earlier when your last save's first half(south africa) was long shots bonanza and the second half(tottenham) was set pieces bonanza.

Personally i think every single aspect should have ca and pa Like newly generated players pa of physical may be 200 but he might have 170 of technical and 150 or mental it would change game becouse wonderkid development would be better and ca would make more sense

Football manager had been using the same 1-20 attributes and 1-200 current/potential ability system since the Championship manager days. It's not a surprise to me that there are balance issues with modern FMs (think of how many more leagues and detail there is now vs the old days). But changing it is likely a much bigger job than giving the graphics engine a fresh coat of paint.

Man, except for two or three players on the pitch (like a midfielder that's all vision and passing), that's pretty much what I did anyway in all of my saves. It's disappointing that it's that broken, I just wanted it to be a little broken

Now I know the secret behind Largie Ramazani. That man gives me nightmares every time I have to face Almeria in FM. Acceleration 18, Pace 17. Always scores against me and outperforms my most of my players because of those two attributes, his mentals are crap, his technicals are below average.

I would like to see you play a season with thia team to see if there is difference between managing during a match and just roll a simulation.

This does make sense, considering the vast agreement that Gegenpress has been overpowered in the last few FM's, how difficult it is to make any type of possession or defending tactic. But it's hard to watch. Like we all knew it but having confirmation of it sucks.

It’s complex because it’s a mess. These are the same people making major coding mistakes in the old champ manager 01/02 that where only discovered by community coders because they loved the game.

You should do a few tests with top tactics from FM Arena. Leaving the tactics up to your Ass Man is highly dubious, noone in their right mind does that when holidaying a save.

This has actually been a thing going way back to Championship Manager in the 1990s. There have been the odd year when it was less effective and years when it was more, currently it's VERY BAD and you need self-discipline not to exploit it. It's a fundamental flaw in how CM/FM calculates match events and has never really been addressed in over 30 years of the games lifetime. I often wonder how much of the original 'code' still exists from the early Domark games. 😆

3:44 Ricky-Jade Jones is on the team of corse. LOL I'm still playing FM20 and every save that i start in lower leagues, i have to get this guy to my team. He usually has between 17~20 pace and aceleration, never seen less of this, a completely shit in the others attributes, but damm. He destroies in every game. In one season in League One he scored 46 goals in one season. The same thing with Bakery Jatta, this one destroy for my team at the Bundesleague. I have players in my team with very high finishing and coposure, that struggles more for score, than players with high pace but 10 of finishing. For me is very clear, high pace players dominate this game. Reccently i'm trying to avoid Styles like Gegenpress, tiki-taka and formations like 442, 424, 4231, 433 and use mainstream roles for the players, or else every save will be practically the same as the previous one, just with different players.

I dont think its super unrealistic. I think a team of adama traore’s would be crazy. Klopp has said that on his day, traore is unplayable. Having to face a team of speedsters would be crazy.
